These were the words written about Beatrice by her family on the program sheet at her memorial service last week.
Many of us were able to go to this service. It was wonderful to hear the tributes and stories about her. On Sunday Michael shared that even after she had passed away, she was still encouraging others. That was certainly our experience. When we spoke to Rachel at the memorial service, Rachel shared with us that her Mum had been regularly praying for Keith and I and our relationship. We were not the only ones. Rachel went on to say at the service that her journals were full of prayers for people from LRBC.
She was one of the first people I met from LRBC. I first met her and Bill in Myanmar just a few days after Keith and I were engaged when Bill was a visiting professor at MEGST. She really encouraged us and was a true blessing to both of us in the early days of our courtship. She had a real pastoral heart and both her and Bill visited and encouraged so many people. When Keith’s dad had a stroke and his mum needed extra care, Beatrice gave up so much of her time to be with her.
There were a few verses on the program sheet at her memorial service which gave us an insight into her life:
Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Romans 8:38-39
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
She was a wonderful Godly woman of prayer, who faced many difficulties particularly in the last few years. Beatrice was an encourager, a woman of prayer and a woman of hope and an example to all of us showing her faith in action.
We thank God for the life of Beatrice and the special place she held in all our hearts.
